The more Nicaraguans see of President Daniel Ortega, the more they like his work.
A new poll published by Siglo Nuevo shows President Ortega’s approval rating is at 80%, while only 7.7% of the population disapproves of their leader’s job performance. Meanwhile, 11.8% said they think Ortega is doing “more or less” an awesome job as president, while .5% drooled on themselves.
The poll also showed that 70% of the population believes Nicaragua’s government is “Socialist, Christian and in Solidarity,” while 13.2% still haven’t gotten the message. (Note to the First Lady: maybe you should try mentioning this more often so people get the idea. And more billboards!)
The poll also revealed that 77.6% of those polled say they will vote in the municipal elections next November—a clear sign of the overwhelming confidence most citizens have in past and future election results in Nicaragua, according to Siglo Nuevo pollster Tomás Valdez.
The poll also shows that 76.7% of Nicaraguans are hopeful and confident about the future, while 10% are weeping softly on the toilet.
Among the government’s many social achievements, 88% think free education is a good idea and 85% are happy about free healthcare. There were a bunch of other questions that people were about 74 percent in favor of.
Politically, 56.3% of the population identifies as a member of the Sandinista Front, while less than 5% of the population identifies as PLC, which seems generous. A hopeful 3.6% sympathize with the Liberal Independent Party (¡Fabio 2016!), and slightly more than 30% of the population says they don’t want nothing to do with nobody.
The Siglo Nuevo polling firm, which is well respected in Sandinista media circles, says it took its survey sample from 10,000 people and has a level of confidence of 95% – slightly better than the president’s.
The USA needs to punish the Nicaraguans for choosing wrongly and for approving what the Nicaraguan Government is accomplishing. Take away the waivers! That will change their mind. Good political points for US politicians on both sides during an election year! Worrying and sad. We really have become an ill-informed, gullible and all consuming society. Just buy the latest ‘new and improved’ tomato juice that’s what will keep you happy….

If you actually think that Nicaraguans “chose” Ortega, you should read up on the constitutional shams that led up to his 2006 “election” and read up some more on the continuing constitutional shams that allowed for his 2011 “reelection” … when you’ve finished, if you still feel that Nicaraguans “chose” him, then write all you want about how Nicaraguans should be punished.

I’m curious. How many of those 10,000 people polled need to be pro-Daniel to keep their jobs? The way things are going, I too have the utmost confidence in Ortega. Not because I agree with him, but because I think he’s doing a great job of making sure Nicaragua stays oppressed.

First of all, this article is not about the waiver, it is a parody of the comandante’s inflated statistics. Second, you need to learn how to properly use and understand sarcasm, since instead of sounding witty or informed, you come across as myopic and dimwitted. Third, while it is true that the comandante’s social initiatives have had some measure of success, their implementation have been marked by clientelismo (look it up), caudillismo, rampant corruption, and the complete destruction of Nicaragua’s institutions. In a sentence, Nicaragua is back to the confusion between party-family-state that characterized the Somoza years. Would you feign disgust if the US cancelled aid to a right-wing dictator? I didn’t think so.

The leaders of German Democratic Republic had 99% results, but the whole state disappeared because of popular protest (and a bit of Gorbachov), b ecause it w as not socialism what that state practised. And Nicaragua’s ruling party or family is of the same ideology. So there is hope.
She forgets more and more to control her face and instead shows too much routine and boredom and oppressed impatience, when confronting the people. People will maybe feel this soon, this lack of real interest in them.
